There are several definitions to her quote. “Great minds discuss ideas” is people who have great minds tend to discuss new ideas, how to improve, and find a new way to improve. “Average minds discuss events” is people who have average minds tend discuss about events that occur outer world like from news. “Small minds discuss people” is people who have small minds tend to gossip, discuss about particular person, and complain and never try to find a way to solve problem. My opinion about the quote is this quote may be offensive quote to some people.
About how humans interact and what kind topics are discussed or focused on. I will take a look on this school first. Almost full percent of students in this school are small mind. I rare see students discuss about news and something that they need to know during their free time and lunchtime. But what is more, I never see students discuss ideas. I not even see one new idea, that able to improve something, discuss during free time by students. I have seen most of discussions are felling into same category and are discussed daily. Of course, the category is also felling into small minds category. From my perspective, all of the topics that we have been discussed are both broad thinking and not broad-thinking. Either the topics are broad thinking or not but it tend still fell into same category and are experienced daily.
The topics that students have been discussed are different topics discussed by adults and teachers. Adults tend bring topics include full scale from idea to people and from great minds to small minds. I think only reason cause students tend to discuss more on people while adult tend to discuss more on all three field is mature developing. Younger don’t develop completely yet while adult do.
I think only way to reduce discuss on people is start discuss on events more like one events per day. Then increase number of events in future. That way may develop students’ kind of topic that they will bring up. In end, they may be able to discuss ideas.
I think the quote is fact but we can’t just put a person in one of those categories immediately. But we can be aware of that. Also I think that small minds discuss people may waste people’s time to discuss worthless and useless topics. Ideas are great topic to bring up and definitely not waste our and your time. It can enrich your knowledge and other your skills.

One who discuss about people have small minds or live in an isolated state where they see same people and environment daily.
I am aware of this issue because this occurs frequently in school and around the world. Which is also sad, I might say.
Average people does have average life only if they keep their mind to it. They discuss events and learn from it just as if you are in History class.
Great minds - this is no superfluous statemet, it is based on fact. Great mind discuss ideas such as good examples of people - Albert Einstein; Teddy Roosevelt; Bill Gates. Excluding Bush, if one were to include him, they deserve to be dropped to nadir point of idiocracy. No offense to anyone, Bush discuss people such as Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, leader of North Korea, Iran, and vice versa. He barely discuss ideas, he only steal ideas from people and use it as his own advantage: which is apparently not working.
One who is great mind, deserve to stay great.

Quote is true, I noticed that students at lunch, they are small minds because they tend to gossip and complain. These students cant see theirselve as small minds. Cant blame them.
Small minds, sometime people like to make others look bad, or make themselve look good and make themsleve feel good.

Eleanor's quote to me means people out there are variety their minds are thinking in 3 different things, great minds, average minds, and small minds. To me I think most percent of people are small minds when they don't know whom they are, or when they see same people everyday, most percentage. We got to think how to pull from small minds to great minds. Sometimes people would be Average minds for once a while depends on their mood and about themselves. When I am with a group most of them are Average minds and Small minds. During lunchtime OFC Everyone @ the cafe are small minds, I intense to discuss about my day at school, the bad day I had in class, my crazy weekend, my family, sports. I think I'm mostly on Small minds when I interact with kids from school everyday but when I'm with grown ups at home I can see I got Average minds, sometimes Great mind. Most of us focus on only what they see and experience daily, soon or later we got to change that it's not a bad thing but think about it at the end it benefits you from nothing. I see others discussing just like me :-)
I agree with everyone because the quote is good for us that we are learning about that. Small minded that some people has because they once had complained about something or gossip about something that they heard from other but i cant blame them which is who they are and cant change their personility. As you know what i mean?
So, great minds discuss ideas are really good for us becuaes we can discuss any ideas because we can figure out how to find a new way to improve to discuss ideas. I notice that some people do that. But some people has average minds and also, some people has small minds.
I learn about the quote that Eleanor Roosevelt wrote becuase I dont realize that its related to some people who has great minds, average minds and small minds.
