Video of murderer
NBC received videos, stories, pictures, etc. from the VT murderer, Cho. There is controversy now surrounding the airing of the videos and pictures. Some families cancelled their appearances on NBC because of this. Others feel NBC did the right thing airing the videos and pictures because it helps people understand the madness that Cho was experiencing.

Media frenzy over Anna Nicole Smith's death
"Are we watching because we're interested, or because that's what we're being fed? "
"I can see the newsroom frenzy: Let's see, there's the war in Iraq, but that's a downer; nothing's new in New Orleans; and Scooter Libby's trial —what is that all about anyway? Back burner that. We'll go live to Florida. Any video of Anna Nicole's body being moved? "
These quotes are from Nancy Giles' comments on CBS Sunday Morning (click on the link below for the full article). She asks the question -why do we find the life of this person so fascinating? Is it because we are "fed" the story by the media, which considers this a money-maker? Interesting - on google.com, if you typed her name, you would get 35,000,000 hits. If you typed "American soldiers who died in Iraq", you would get 6,400,000 hits.
Click on the link below. Do you agree or disagree with Nancy Giles? Do you think she brought up important questions that we need to think about - particularly about our values as a society?

A quote by Eleanor Roosevelt
Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.
-Eleanor Roosevelt, US diplomat & reformer (1884 - 1962)
What do you think Roosevelt meant by this quote? Think about how humans interact and what topics are discussed or focused on. When you are withi a group of friends at lunch, during free time, etc., what do you discuss? Are the topics of your discussion broad-thinking and broad-reaching or focused only on what you see or experience daily? What do you see others discussing?
